Advocates: Michael Simkins

Michael Simkins is a stage and screen actor and writer. He has worked with Alan Ayckbourn on both the World and London premieres of his work.

"Ayckbourn provides wonderful acting opportunities for actors because of the complexity and richness of his characters and situations; you don't get this from many authors. Somebody said (I'm paraphrasing badly) that Ayckbourn and Pinter - who knew each other well - are in many ways writing the same play but one has a smiley face and the other has a dark face."

"Above any director I have worked with, he encourages a sense of merriment and happiness in the rehearsal room. He trusts actors, enjoys the company of actors and loves to watch actors at work."
